Welcome Back Letter from Principal Mills

Dear RAM families,

I hope you have had a relaxing break and are enjoying the last few weeks of summer! We are excited to kick off the 2025-2026 school year in a few weeks and welcome students back to Twin Peaks Middle School! This message includes important information regarding student registration, on-campus 6th Grade WEB Orientation, school photos, and Back-to-School events taking place August 6-15th.

All student registration is completed online only this year - if you still need to register your student, please visit the PUSD Enrollment and Registration Page LINKED HERE!  If your student’s online registration was not completed and/or your student is missing any required vaccinations, they will not be able to start the school year on campus. Starting August 1st, please contact Nicole Hunting, Administrative Assistant to the Principal, with any questions or concerns regarding registration or required vaccinations at [email protected] or (858) 748-5131 ext. 2802.

Because we had such a short summer and are starting school on the earlier side this year, we decided to limit our before-school events to just one day!  This August, there will not be registration days before school starts for 7th and 8th grade students. 7th and 8th graders will collect any necessary textbooks they may need for the school year from the library during their classes on Thursday and Friday, August 14th and 15th.  If parents need to purchase PE uniforms, yearbooks, check out a band instrument or join the PTSA or Foundation, they can do that on Wednesday, August 6th during our WEB Orientation times of 8am-3pm.

Also new this year, all students in grades 6-8 will be taking their school photos during students’ PE classes on Thursday and Friday, August 14th and 15th.  This is the same photo that will be used for their student ID card and in the school yearbook, so please bring your smiles and leave your hats at home!  No school photos will be taken before school starts; there will be a makeup photo day in September for students who miss the first photo days in August.

Here is a breakdown of important upcoming TPMS events in August:

August 6th: WEB Orientation for all incoming 6th graders and new students to TPMS: last names beginning with A through L, please attend from 8:00am-11:00am and those with last names beginning with M through Z please attend from 12:00pm-3:00pm.  The WEB Orientation is a drop-off event for students only, but we do have some things for parents to do - see below!

  • Students - please check in at the MPR when you arrive!  We recommend you bring a refillable water bottle and wear sunscreen; you will be picking up your textbooks and a new Chromebook at the end of your orientation from the library.
  • Parents - we will have PE uniforms and Yearbooks for sale, band instruments available for pickup, and representatives from the PTSA and Foundation to visit with!

August 11th: Make-up Registration / Drop-in Questions - all grades (1-3pm)

August 12th: School Year’s Eve for incoming 6th graders and their families, 5-6pm.  This is an opportunity for our 6th grade and new TPMS families and students to come on campus the night before school starts in order to get oriented and to find their classrooms before the first day. August 13th:  First Day of School - 9:30am late start (Homeroom all day)

During WEB Orientation, Parents will have an opportunity to join the PTSA and Foundation, purchase PE clothes, and buy a yearbook at a discounted price. Please notify the counseling office if purchasing a yearbook or PE uniforms would present a financial hardship. Here are the costs for PE uniforms:

  • PE Shirts: $10
  • PE Shorts: $15
  • PE Sweatshirts / Sweatpants: $20 each
  • PE lock: $10

I am looking forward to seeing all of our Rams back on campus real soon - please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.  Thanks so much and enjoy the last few weeks of summer!

Warm regards,

Steve Mills
